Anshuman Gaekwad to represent ICA in BCCI apex body

New Delhi, Oct 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) Anshuman Gaekwad on Sunday pipped Kirti Azad to be the male representative of the Indian Cricketers' Association (ICA) to the Apex Council of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Former India opener Gaekwad (471 votes) beat his one-time national teammate Azad (381) by 90 votes in the first ICA elections held between October 10 and October 13.

Earlier, former India captain Shantha Rangaswamy was elected as ICA's female representative to the BCCI Apex Council, while ex-India international Surinder Khanna was elected as the ICA representative to the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Meanwhile, former Gujarat pacer Hitesh Majumdar, who was also the bowling coach of Gujarat and had notably worked with a young Jasprit Bumrah, was elected as the Secretary of the ICA, while former Tamil Nadu player V. Krishnaswamy was elected as its treasurer.

Former India batsman Ashok Malhotra was elected unapposed to the post ICA President.

Former Test batsman Yajurvindra Singh and former India women's team wicketkeeper Rajesh Nayyar were elected as Member Representatives.
