New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday met Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal to apprise him about the decision to implement the Odd-Even scheme for vehicles in November.
Kejriwal requested the LG to direct the departments under his jurisdiction to ensure inter-departmental coordination for hassle-free implementation of the scheme.
The meeting, which took place at Raj Niwas, also had the two leaders discussing air pollution.
The Chief Minister informed the LG about the need to implement the Odd-Even scheme when Delhi will be facing a challenge to maintain its air quality due to stubble burning in neighbouring states and bursting of crackers during Diwali.
Baijal shared pictures of the meeting on Twitter and said: "Discussed measures to reduce air pollution and congestion in Delhi. Requested to explore amongst other measures, option of staggered opening/closing hours of offices & other establishments to reduce congestion and resultant air pollution."
Kejriwal reacted to the tweet saying he briefed Baijal about the steps planned by the Delhi government to reduce air pollution, including the Odd-Even scheme for vehicles.
"He assured us of his support and suggested that opening/closing hours of offices be staggered. The government will definitely implement this," the Chief Minister said.
The Odd-Even scheme will be implemented between November 4 and 15 in the national capital.
