Guwahati, Sep 4 (IANS) Security along the international border, role of social media and its influence on law and order problems and inter-state boundary issues are likely to dominate the two day conference of the DGPs and IGPs of northeastern states which will get underway at Dimapur from Thursday.
Police officials in Nagaland said that newly Governor R.N. Ravi will inaugurate the conference on September 5 while Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphu Rio will preside over the conference.
Apart from the DGPs of northeasterns states, other top police official of all these states, and heads of the Central agencies like the Intelligence Bureau are also likely to attend the two-day-long conference.
Sources said that issues like the security along the international border, role of social media and its influence on law and order problems, inter-state boundary issues and issues of sharing of information between different agencies for better coordination are likely to be the key points for discussion during the conference.
Initiated by the intelligence Bureau during the early 1980s, the conference has not only provided a platform to the law enforcing agencies in the region but also helped the different agencies to effectively handle the expanding network of militant outfits in the region.
