Mahesh Babu has pinned huge hopes on his forthcoming film Maharshi. Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Allari Naresh and Jagapathi Babu in the lead roles. The big-budget film will release on May 9.

It is revealed that Maharshi is a socio-drama and will deal with the plight of farmers. The latest update is that the film might address the Pasarlapudi gas leak which rocked the Godavari region.

Back in January 1995, people in the East Godavari region lost their livelihood when the gas pipe blew near the Pasarlapudi village. There were no casualties, but nearly 65 villages were affected by smog and ash.

It is said that the gas leak scene will change the course of Maharshi’s storyline. If that’s the case, it will be a solid backstory for Mahesh Babu’s film.
