Beware of 'tax frauds' who come to Kerala: Modi

Kozhikode (Kerala), April 12 (IANS) Taking pot shots at his arch political rival without naming him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday warned people to beware of 'tax frauds' who come to Kerala.

Modi said this while addressing a mammoth Vijay Sankalp rally at the famed Kozhikode beach side, his first election rally in the state which goes to the polls on April 23 to elect 20 Lok Sabha candidates.

"The Congress and the Left have taken people here for granted. Beware of those who come to Kerala who say they come to save Kerala, but they come not to save you, but to save themselves. Tax frauds who are on bail come here to get political bail," said Modi.

These salvos were apparently fired at Congress President Rahul Gandhi who is contesting from the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, about 80 km from Modi's rally venue.

"When their political leaders come seeking votes for 'them', people should ask them, what 'such' people have done in their constituencies," said Modi.

The Prime Minister arrived at the venue around 7 p.m. and after his address, left for Tamil Nadu, where he is slated to take part in election meetings on Saturday.
