Maoists torch four vehicles in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Aug 20 (IANS) Maoist guerrillas on Monday set on fire four vehicles at bauxite mines in Jharkhand's Gumla district, police said.

Around 20-25 members of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist raided the mines at Serengdag in Ghaghra police station jurisdiction and set on fire three trucks and a tractor.

The Maoists also thrashed contractor Umesh Singh and the vehicle drivers and ordered the closure of the mines.

Police said the incident could be a fallout of contractor's refusal to pay levy to the Maoists.
