Centre moves to create online network of research equipment

New Delhi, April 10 (IANS) The Central government has asked higher learning institutions to provide the list of government-funded technical and other research related equipment they possess to create an "online national network", it was announced on Tuesday.

The order came in a bid to allow researchers to access them from anywhere in the country, the University Grants Commission (UGC) said.

"The government has planned to establish an online national network that lists all the scientific, technical, analytical, research equipment, facilities procured with funds provided by the government agencies," UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain said in his letter to the institutions.
