"The Gujarat elections have shown that we need a broadest platform of secular and democratic forces to take on the communal juggernaut of the BJP and the RSS," Communist Party of India-Marxist General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said at the condolence meeting of veteran trade unionist Sukomal Sen here.
Laying stress on formulation of alternative policies that would set apart the secular and democratic forces from the "communal agenda and neo-liberal path" of the BJP-RSS, he said the struggle should be one of policies, and not between political personalities.
"An alternative policy framework is a must," he said.
Queried about the possibility of the Congress being included in the platform of secular and democratic forces, Yechury said the party or whichever other outfit was in sync with the alternative policy framework of the CPI-M could join.
