Pakistan arrests 16 foreigners for illegal border crossing

Islamabad, Nov 21 (IANS) Sixteen foreigners were arrested in Pakistan's Balochistan province for illegally trying to cross the country's border into Iran, authorities said on Tuesday.

The foreigners -- 15 Nigerians and one Yemeni national -- were en route to Europe via Iran, but were arrested on Monday night on a tip-off, reports Xinhua news agency.

The security forces also detained two armed local men in the operation conducted in Turbat district.

Monday's incident comes a day after the police arrested a drug trafficker from Punjab province who was accused of sending people to Europe illegally.
