Gurugram’s civil hospital patients to get masks for next 10 days

Gurugram, Nov 13 (IANS) With the intent to raise awareness about the alarming levels of pollution and protect the most vulnerable from its detrimental health effects, free N95 masks were on Monday distributed to patients at the government-run civil hospital here, said a senior doctor.

The masks will continue to be distributed for the next ten days, he added.

As part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative, Blueair will distribute more than 1,000 N95 masks to patients with respiratory, lung disease problems and other high risk patients, including children and elderly, at the civil hospital in Gurugram.

The pollution masks were distributed to the patients by Chief Medical Officer Dr B.K Rajora in the presence of Blueair India Head Arvind Chabra, Principal Medical Officer Dr Pradeep Sharma and Medical Superintendent Dr Manish Rathee.

Blueair aims to create mass awareness about pollution and how to protect oneself.

The free masks will be given for the next 10 days especially when the pollution level is very high and people are suffering from suffocation and life-threatening smog.

This campaign is a step to create awareness against pollution so that individuals, especially those at high risk, take precautions to reduce pollution exposure and create a better personal environment for themselves.

"Patients who are already battling lung and heart problems are more likely to have their condition worsened with the extreme pollution levels which could be even life-threatening for them," Dr Rajora said.

"Taking precautionary measures like putting on a mask can help them breathe better and reduce the exposure to toxic ambient air. These N95 masks from Blueair will definitely help patients who need it most."
