NIA signs MoU with C-DAC to enhance cyber, IT capability

New Delhi, Nov 3 (IANS) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday signed an MoU with C-DAC's Pune branch for a robust IT network architecture and security, a state of the art data centre, hardware optimization and an advanced cyber-forensics capability, an official statement.

The MoU, valid for the next two years, was signed at the counter-terrorism agency's headquarters here by NIA Inspector General Mukesh Singh and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Executive Director Hemant Darbari.

NIA's newly-appointed Director General Yogesh Chander Modi and C-DAC's Director General Debashis Dutta were present on the occasion.

"This MoU is intended to establish collaboration between the C-DAC and the NIA for consultancy or turnkey solutions in designing and implementing the information systems architecture, data centre and other related information systems projects of critical importance to the NIA and its branches,

"With the present MoU, the NIA aims to establish a robust network IT architecture and security, a state of the art data centre, hardware optimization and an advanced cyber-forensics capability for the NIA headquarters as well as all other branches of NIA," an NIA statement said.

In the past also, the C-DAC Trivandrum was consulted by the NIA branch in Kochi for capacity building of the agency's IT division and in the field of cyber forensics, it said.

C-DAC is an autonomous scientific society of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology.
