BJP, Congress MLAs fail to file financial statements before Goa Lokayukta

Panaji, Oct 31 (IANS) Three sitting MLAs from the BJP and Congress as well as nine former MLAs, including two ministers, have not submitted their statements of assets and liabilities for the financial year ending March 2017, Goa Lokayukta P.K. Mishra said.

He named Aleixo Reginaldo (Congress), Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Chandrakant Kavlekar (Congress) and Nilesh Cabral (BJP) in his communication to Goa Governor Mridula Sinha.

"The following public functionaries have failed to submit their statement of assets and liabilities for financial year ending March 31, 2017, within the stipulated time-limit," Mishra's letter to the Governor states.

Former Speaker and subsequently Forest Minister in the preceding BJP-led coalition government Rajendra Arlekar and Industries Minister Mahavdev Naik also find mention in the Lokayukta's communication to the Governor which as per the provisions of the Goa Lokayukta Act will be subsequently placed before the state assembly.
