FIFA officials celebrate Indian fashion

Kolkata, Oct 27 (IANS) Displaying true sportsmanship, FIFA officials flaunted and celebrated Indian fashion here on Friday after a crucial Council meet, a day ahead of the Under-17 FIFA World Cup finale.

Ahead of the dinner hosted by the West Bengal government on Friday, donning a kurta and pyjama in electric blue-black hue, FIFA chief Gianni Infantino obliged paparazzi with a graceful 'namaste' at a five-star hotel here.

All India Football Federation President Praful Patel was resplendent in a black-white kurta pyjama.

FIFA Council member Maria Sol Munoz Altamirano from Ecuador sported a lehenga ensemble in green-brown shade accentuated with sparkling 'jhumkas' (dangling earrings). American Samoa's Sandra Fruean dazzled in a red-orange salwar kurta with a flower tucked away in her hair adding an extra dash of glamour to her outfit.

The outfits were designed by Agnimitra Paul.

The FIFA officials let their hair down after the high-powered meeting: mingling and exchanging pleasantries while admiring each other's attire.

"They should get a glimpse of Indian culture and traditions. Since they have come here all the way, they should get to experience Indian food, dress, hospitality. They will eat traditional Indian food in thali style," said Patel.
