Man shot dead by bikers in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 24 (IANS) A 25-year-old man was shot dead near his house here by two men on a bike on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place around 8:30 a.m. when two bike-borne assailants opened fire at Rohit in east Delhi, police said.

The two parked the bike and fired at least four rounds before fleeing, Deputy Commissioner of Police A.K. Singhla said.

"Rohit was taken to a hospital by the locals but was declared brought dead. We are examining the CCTV footage of the nearby shops and intersections to identify the accused."

Rohit lived with his parents in Usmanpur area. He had a younger brother and a sister. His father works with BSES, Singhla said.

"Rohit had earlier worked at a shop in Chandni Chowk market. He was jobless for some months," Singhla said.

The DCP said Rohit had joined a group of local criminals but had no criminal background.

"The police are suspecting a gang war and some personal animosity behind his murder," the officer added.
