DMK threatens to launch agitation

Dindugal, Sep 16 (IANS) DMK Working President M. K. Stalin on Saturday threatened to launch a people's movement against the minority AIADMK government in tamil Nadu if they do not get "justice" from courts on their demand for floor test.

"We hope that in two or three days we will get justice from the High Court (where DMK has filed a petition for floor test). I have no doubts about it but if we do not get justice from the High Court we will mobilise people and launch an agitation," Stalin told a public meeting here in the southern part of Tamil Nadu.

He said the state government was being run by the Centre because the Chief Minister E. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam were behaving like "slaves" of the government in Delhi.

Stalin alleged that the Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao, who has been approached many times by the opposition on the issue, has failed to take any decision probably because "he is under someone's pressure".

He said the government enjoyed the support of only 114 MLAs against 119 MLAs ranged against it in a House of 233 members showing it was in a clear minority.

Despite being in minority, the ruling party was being allowed by the Governor to continue in power, he said.
