Shyam Sunder Prasad is new Haryana Home Secretary

Chandigarh, Sep 12 (IANS) The Haryana government on Tuesday appointed Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Shyam Sunder Prasad as the new Home Secretary in place of Ram Niwas, days after the violence in Panchkula and elsewhere after Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's conviction for rape.

Ram Niwas has been transferred to Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department.

His transfer is among those of 14 Indian Administrative Service and two Haryana Civil Services officers.

Labour Department ACS Vijai Vardhan has been transferred to the Tourism Department.

Vardhan relieves Varinder Singh Kundu, who has been posted as ACS of Science and Technology Department.
