Nurture family values, acceptance of diversity: Modi

New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that family values, acceptance of diversity, and environmental consciousness were three of Indias greatest traditions that must be nurtured.

Interacting with a 25-member delegation from the Young FICCI Ladies Organisation that called on him, Modi talked of the need for judicious use of water.

An official release said the delegation interacted on issues such as women entrepreneurship and women empowerment and the Prime Minister responded at length to various questions.

On water conservation, the Prime Minister said that "all of us should individually focus on judicious use of water and micro and drip irrigation."

He said Swachh Bharat Mission offers great opportunities for "waste to wealth" entrepreneurship and had significant benefits for community health.

"Family values, acceptance of diversity and environmental consciousness are three of India's greatest traditions which we must nurture," Modi said.

Subjects such as education, skill development, art and culture and women's safety also came up for discussion.
