West Bromwich bring Egyptian Hegazi on loan

London, July 18 (IANS) English football club West Bromwich Albion has signed Egyptian Ahmed Hegazi on a one-year loan contract from Egyptian Premier League champions Al Ahly.

The five-time FA Cup champions West Bromwich on Monday said the deal includes an option for the club to sign Hegazi, who joined the squad on its Asian tour, with a long-term contract, reports Efe.

"We're delighted to add Ahmed to the squad. He caught our eye at the African championships and we've been tracking him ever since," Albion chairman John Williams told the club's website.

"We're pleased he's here, he's a good addition. He's got good pedigree and has played for some good clubs. Hopefully he'll be a good signing for us," coach Tony Pulis said.

This will be the second stint at an European club for Hegazi, 26, after he joined Italian side Fiorentina in 2012, but injuries held back his progress, before he returned to Al Ahly.
