‘RAW operating from Afghanistan to create tension’

Islamabad, July 15 (IANS) Pakistan is aware of the threats emanating from hostile intelligence agencies, especially India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), against the country and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a senior Pakistani Army officer has said.

According to Dawn News, Chairman Joint Chiefs of the Staff Committee, General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, said on Saturday RAW was operating from Afghanistan and other locations to create unrest in Pakistan, especially in Balochistan.

"Their designs (and) oblique actions to sabotage CPEC are also well known," he said while attending a ceremony at the Pakistan Naval Academy near Karachi.

Pointing to the existential threat emanating from India, Hayat said that asymmetry had reached a critical threshold in the east.

In order to counter such threats, Pakistan's armed forces are committed to undertaking "synergetic national efforts", he said.
