Wimbledon, July 8 (IANS) Indian star Sania Mirza and her Belgian partner Kirsten Flipkens defeated the British pair of Naomi Broady and Heather Watson in a hard fought encounter to enter the third round of the women's doubles event at the Wimbledon tennis tournament here on Saturday.
Sania and Kirstenhad to struggle hard before scripting a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory in one hour and 45 minutes.
The 13th seeded Indo-Belgian pair will next meet third seeds Martina Hingis of Switzerland and Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei for a place in the quarter-finals.
Martina and Chan had defeated the unseeded Russian pair of Veronika Kudermetova and Natela Dzalamidze 6-1, 6-3 in the second round.
