New Delhi, July 7 (IANS) Minister for Development of North East Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh on Friday proposed tele-education for the civil services aspirants of northeast region, saying it will bring them at par with others in metro cities.
"Holding coaching classes for preparation of civil services examination through satellite and tele-education for youth living in the remote parts of peripheral states can be helpful. This will provide them with similar facilities as their counterparts in some of the metros and other cities have access to," said Singh.
He was speaking to media in a interactive session here.
Singh said that northeast youths are excelling in international athletics and gymnastics as they have the capacity and determination to excel despite a lack of infrastructure and training/coaching facilities.
He said that business houses as well as investors have started showing interest in the northeast which would ultimately augur well for job creation and employment.
"Even this year, there was a significant increase in tourist flow, due to the priority given to the northeast by tour operators in the rest of the country," said Singh.
