Addis Ababa, July 3 (IANS/WAM) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Monday that he is ready for a historical peace deal with Israel based on a two-state solution.
"We are waiting for Israel to respond to the initiative of US President Donald Trump for a historical peace deal based on a two-state solution," said Abbas, addressing the 29th African Union Summit in the Ethiopian capital.
Abbas said that Trump's early interest in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict gave hope for peace, stressing that a just solution to the Palestinian cause will be the key to peace, security and prosperity in the region and the world.
"It will pull the rug from under the feet of terrorist groups that use the Palestinian issue to justify their actions," he said.
