9-month-old girl drowns in bucket in Goa

Panaji, July 2 (IANS) A nine-month-old girl died in Verna village, around 20 km from Panaji, on Sunday after drowning in a bucket of water, officials said.

The victim, Samritha, daughter of Uttar Pradesh native Kamalkant Nandlal, was playing at her house in Verna, when the incident occurred.

"The parents brought her to the hospital but she was declared dead on arrival," a spokesperson for south Goa's Hospicio Hospital, a state government-run facility, told reporters.
