New Delhi, June 2 (IANS) The national capital kept sweating through Friday as the maximum temperature reached 40 degrees Celsius.
The mercury is set to rise further in the days to come, with Saturday forecast to see around 42 degrees maximum temperature and Sunday to hit 43 degrees Celsius.
"The days will remain hot for next few days and maximum temperature is expected to hover around 42 to 43 degrees Celsius," said an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The minimum temperature on Friday was 26 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average.
According to the IMD, respite is possible on June 6 as it is likely to rain.
Humidity oscillated between 26 and 79 per cent.
Thursday's maximum temperature was 37.2 degrees, three notches below the season's average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 24.9 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average.
