Jon Stewart, HBO cancel planned animated show

New York, May 25 (PTI) Stand-up comic and former talk show Jon Stewart and HBO have scrapped his much-anticipated animated series.

In a joint statement issued by the two parties read the potential show faced technical issues which led to its cancellation, reported New York Times.

"HBO and Jon Stewart have decided not to proceed with a short form digital animated project. We all thought the project had great potential, but there were technical issues in terms of production and distribution that proved too difficult given the quick turnaround and topical nature of the material," the statement read.

It further stated both Stewart and HBO had "some future projects" in the pipeline, "which you will be hearing about in the near future".

Stewart already signed a four-year deal with the network that started in November 2015, three months after Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" ended.
