Clear Tuesday morning but rain likely

New Delhi, May 9 (IANS) It was a clear and sunny morning here on Tuesday.

The weather office predicted rains and thunderstorms later during the day.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average, the Met office said.

The Indian Meteorological Department's Safdarjung observatory said that the sky would become partly cloudy. "Rains, thunderstorms and dust storms are likely to occur," an IMD official told IANS.

Intense heat wave had gripped Delhi on Monday with mercury soaring to new heights. Rains might bring respite from that.

Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was recorded at 59 per cent. The maximum temperature was likely to hover around 41 degrees Celsius.

On Monday, the maximum temperature settled at 42.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average and the minimum temperature was 27.6, three notches above the season's average.
