Poonch-Rawalakot bus operates, Karvan-e-Aman suspended

Jammu/Srinagar, May 8 (IANS) Despite border tensions between India and Pakistan, the Poonch-Rawalakot bus service across the Line of Control operated on Monday. The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Karvan-e-Aman bus service was, however, suspended due to security reasons, police said.

The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad peace bus service, also known as the Karvan-e-Aman, was suspended because the Army was carrying out a cordon-and-search operation close to Kaman Post on the LoC from where the passengers from the two sides cross the border.

"Passengers had reached the Salamabad trade facilitation centre near the Uri town in Baramulla district, but they were not allowed beyond the trade facilitation centre as an operation was going on close to the LoC," police said.
