Two injured in Assam blast

Guwahati, May 4 (IANS) At least two persons including a minor girl were injured after suspected militants hurled a grenade at a residence in Tinsukia district on Thursday.

Tinsukia Superintendent of Police M.J. Mahanta said that some motorcycle borne militants lobbed an explosive at the house of one Yogendra Pratap Singh at Milanpur.

"It fell on the tinned roof of the house and exploded injuring Yogendra and his minor daughter. They were taken to the hospital," police said, adding that the nature of the explosive was yet to be ascertained.

Kakopathar in Tinsukia district had been a hotbed of insurgency till a few years back. Although the situation has improved now to a great extent, movements of anti-talk faction of ULFA and other militants were recorded in the area.
