Minister to inaugurate agricultural fair on Wednesday
New Delhi, March 14 (IANS) Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh will on Wednesday inaugurate a three-day 'Krishi Unnati Mela' at the Pusa Institute here.

Latest advancements in agricultural research and technology development in farm sector, animal husbandry and horticulture will be on display at the fair, where over 350 stalls will be put up from March 15 to 17.

Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, told the media that various government schemes and policies for the farmers will be showcased at the event.

 

At some stalls, farmers will get information on low-cost farming such as kitchen and vertical gardening, integrated gardening and energy-effective farming using solar energy.

He said all these initiatives will help farmers to double income in next few years.

Mohapatra said there will be demonstration of agricultural machinery, information about different species of livestock, fish cultivation and rainwater harvesting. Also, seeds of improvised varieties will be up for sale, he added.

There will be 40 stalls where farmers will be able to sell their produce but through cashless payment only.

Mohapatra said farmers can use the event to interact with scientists to learn new methods of improving agricultural yield.
