New Delhi, Feb 24 (IANS) Expressing dissatisfaction over the handling of Ramjas College incident by the Delhi Police, the All India Students Association (AISA) on Friday said they will approach the high court if the situation continues like this.
"The FIR filed by police is a complete eyewash. The violence, which was completely one-sided, has been written as a clash between two student parties. We know what will happen with the investigation, too.
"We will soon move the high court if police do not file cases on the basis of individual complaints," AISA leader Kawalpreet Kaur told IANS.
The students, she said, have been asked to submit evidence -- videos, photos, medico-legal certificates of injuries -- at the Kotwali Police Station, based on which the investigation will be conducted.
"Nothing has been done to tend to individual complaints of the victims of the violence as asked by us. Most students, who were beaten up during the Wednesday's incident, did not even belong to any party and were common students," she added.
A senior police official, however, told IANS that the procedure for setting up a desk for the complaints has started.
"We have started the process to set up a desk to cater to the complaints of the students. There are some formalities which are pending, after which it will become functional," Esha Pandey, Additional DCP, North District of Delhi Police said.
Special Commissioner of Police S.B.K. Singh had told the protesting students on Thursday that a desk would be set up to receive complaints and the video footage of the incident.
The "clashes" were result of a protest by the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) against invitation extended to JNU student Umar Khalid at a literary event at the Ramjas College of Delhi University, which it forced the college to cancel.
On the second day of the two-day event, the ABVP members resorted to force against the students when they tried to carry out a march towards the local police station against the behaviour of the former.
