Golf: Shubhankar second, Chiragh tied seventh at Bangladesh Open
Dhaka, Feb 2 (IANS) Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma slipped to the second place following a three-under 68, while his compatriot Chiragh Kumar also dropped two places to be tied seventh as he scored 70 in the second round of the $300,000 Bashundhara Bangladesh Open here on Thursday.

Overnight co-leader Shubhankar bagged five birdies against two bogeys for a 68 as he took his two-day total to 10-under 132 -- one shot behind leader Jazz Janewattananond of Thailand who scored 67 at the Kurmitola Golf Club.

However, he took consolation from the fact that he achieved his two-day target which allowed him to keep up the chase for a breakthrough win in the tournament where he finished third last year.

"The round wasn't as smooth as it was yesterday but it was still a good round. I hit the ball decent although I would like it to be better. Other than that, I played pretty well to hang in there," Shubhankar said in an Asian Tour release.

Chiragh, meanwhile mixed three birdies and two bogeys to make 70 in the second round as he was tied seventh with a total of four-under 138.

Khalin Joshi (70) and Udayan Mane (68) shared the ninth spot on 139 total, while Rashid Khan was tied 18th on 140 total following a 67.

Sujjan Singh, Honey Baisoya, Mukesh Kumar, Jeev Milkha Singh and M. Dharma made the half-way cut which fell at three-over 145.

Ajeetesh Sandhu, Kapil Kumar, Arjun Prasad and C. Muniyappa were not able to reach the next two rounds of the Asian Tour meet.
