Chinese shares open lower

Beijing, Aug 17 (IANS) Chinese stocks opened lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.10 per cent to open at 3,106.99 points.

The smaller Shenzhen index opened 0.03 per cent lower at 10,879.99 points, Xinhua news agency reported.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.04 per cent to open at 2,200.24 points.
