Vietnamese SU-30 jet goes missing

Hanoi, June 14 (IANS) A Vietnamese SU-30 fighter jet went missing while training offshore in the country's central Nghe An province on Tuesday morning, the media reported.

There were two pilots aboard the Russian-made fighter jet, Xinhua news agency reported.

The jet, which disappeared from radar screen at 7.29 a.m. (local time), took off from Sao Vang airport in Thanh Hoa province.

A local fisherman said he saw a plane falling down into the sea around 8.30 a.m. to the east of Mat island.

A search operation was initiated by a joint rescue team.
