Sunderland defender Eboue banned from football for a year

Sunderland, March 31 (IANS) Sunderland defender Emmanuel Eboue was on Thursday banned from taking part in any football-related activity for an year by world football's governing body FIFA until he pays the amount of money he owes to his former agent.

The Ivory Coast international who joined English Premier League side Sunderland a few weeks back was first ordered to pay back the amount in July 2013, reported FIFA.com.

On September 9, 2014, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided to sanction Eboue with a fine of Swiss francs 30,000 ($31,141) and was given four months to settle the dispute.

The 32-year-old has not yet made an appearance for Sunderland.
