German who scaled Egyptian pyramid climbs Shanghai tower

Shanghai, March 30 (IANS) A 19-year-old German, Andrej Ciesielski, who in 2015 was arrested and banned from Egypt for life, for illegally scaling the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza, climbed without permission 420 metres (1,380 feet) to the tip of the antenna of Shanghai's Jin Mao Tower.

Ciesielski, who is from Munich, was accompanied by another man, and shared his experience through videos and photographs posted on social media, Efe news agency reported.

According to Chinese media, both men were arrested and detained for seven hours after being seen by tourists from the world's highest observation deck in a nearby skyscraper.

The incident occurred on February 17 although it has only been reported in the Chinese media now.

The two young men were finally released without charges.
