Politician and Megastar Chiranjeevi was detained by police at Rajahmundry airport, Andhra Pradesh today morning. Chiru went to meet the former minister and Kapu Community leader Mudragada Padmanabham who is on the indefinite hunger strike since Friday for the inclusion of Kapu Community to the BC list. His hunger strike has reached to the fourth day.
PCC President Raghuveera Reddy who was along with Chiranjeevi was also detained by local police outside the airport as precautionary measures.
After hearing this news, Congress party workers staged a protest to release them as Chiranjeevi is the Rajyasabha MP from Congress. Dasari Narayan Rao was house arrested at his native Kirlampudi when he was on the way to meet Mudagada to support the Kapu reservation demand.
According to sources, party president Sonia Gandhi, former Union minister M.M. Pallam Raju and AP Congress in-charge Digvijay Singh telephoned Mr Padmanabham and extended their support to him. The AP Government representative will discuss this issue with Mudragada today.
