
United Nations, Feb 3 (IANS) Three United Nations entities have been informed of the intentions of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to launch an earth observation satellite between February 8-25, said a UN spokesman on Tuesday.
North Korea has told the International Civil Aviation Organisation, International Maritime Organisation and the International Telecommunications Union about its plan to launch an earth-observation satellite this month, said Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the UN secretary-general, at a press briefing, Xinhua reported.
"Right now we are carefully monitoring the developments and we are in close touch with interested parties and the international organisations," he said.
