The CID officials arrived at Shamshabad airport at Hyderabad on Sunday morning. Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police J.V. Ramudu will present Gangi Reddy before the media at Hyderabad at 3 p.m. on Sunday. He would be brought to Kurnool and produced in court on Sunday night or Monday, according to sources.
A native of Vathalur in Pullampet mandal in Kadapa district, Gangi Reddy was arrested by Interpol officials at Mauritius in February this year, on a red corner notice issued on a warrant issued by Dhone magistrate court after he jumped bail on May 16 last year and fled India. The State Government had subsequently transferred several cases of red sanders smuggling booked against Gangi Reddy in Kurnool and Kadapa districts to the CBI.
Gangi Reddy maintains his innocence and he claims he was not absconding from the country and was just outside for business reasons.
