Controversy over the Death of a VHP Worker in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Nov 10 (IANS) A 50-year-old man was killed of injuries sustained in a clash while protesting the Karnataka government's Tipu Sultan Jayanthi celebrations in Madikeri of Kodagu district on Tuesday, authorities said.

Kutappa suffered head injuries in stone pelting when a pro-Tipu Sultan group and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists clashed at Thimmaiah circle in Madikeri, officials said.

The BJP sources though claim,"Gangs of Tipu Supporters have entered Coorg in tempos & trucks from Mysore, Mangalore and Kerala".

When a Muslim group celebrating the birth anniversary of the 18th-century Mysore ruler and the VHP group opposing it came face to face, a showdown took place on Tuesday morning, leaving three more people injured.

The Social Media network of  BJP is now asking, "why are the 'award wapasi' intellectuals not taking about this gruesome killing?"

Actor Girish Karnad adds to the controversy. He says Banglore airport should have been named after Tippu sultan instead of Kempe Gowda, which is an insult to Kempe Gowda which was instrumental in establishing Banglore city, feels BJP supporters.
